Morning Meetings at Summit School.

More than a school assembly.

Morning Meetings at Summit School bring students together to share, celebrate, and connect as one Preschool through 8th Grade community. Students take the stage, classes share what they have been learning, achievements are celebrated, and the school gathers around the experiences that connect us.

Morning Meetings give students something increasingly valuable as they grow: regular opportunities to stand in front of others, share their work, and find their voice.

Classes take turns presenting what they have been learning, giving students authentic public-speaking experience beginning in the early years and continuing through middle school.

Just as important is what happens in the audience. Younger students watch older students lead. Older students see how far they have come. Teachers, students, and families celebrate one another’s accomplishments.

It is one of the ways a Preschool through 8th Grade campus becomes one connected community.

Growing through experience.

Confidence starts with opportunities to practice.

Speaking confidently in front of others is a skill students develop over time.

Morning Meetings make that practice part of the Summit experience. Students learn to prepare, communicate clearly, participate as part of a group, and become increasingly comfortable sharing their ideas with an audience.

What begins as a simple classroom presentation can become an important foundation for communication, leadership, and self-confidence.

Connect.

Preschoolers, elementary students, middle schoolers, educators, and families gather in one place, strengthening relationships across ages and grade levels.

Preschool through eighth grade.

Learning from one another.

There is something powerful about growing up in a school where students can see what comes next.

A preschooler can watch an eighth grader speak with confidence. Elementary students see older students lead. Middle school students have opportunities to model the qualities younger students are still developing.

Those interactions help make Summit feel less like a collection of individual grade levels and more like one community growing together.

PEAK to Achieve.

Building the culture we want students to carry with them.

Morning Meetings reinforce the shared expectations students experience throughout Summit: Positive. Engaged. Accountable. Kind.

Students practice listening when others speak, supporting classmates, participating in their community, celebrating one another, and taking responsibility when it is their turn to contribute.

Over time, those everyday experiences help students understand that being part of a community means both having a voice and making space for the voices of others.
