Summit School of Ahwatukee was founded in January 2001 as a non‐profit, private, independent school. The founders of the school envisioned a school community where students would attain academic excellence while respecting individual achievement and diversity. Our school has flourished over the years and has gained a reputation for being a very strong private independent school supported by a highly‐involved parent community.
In 2010, Summit earned accreditation through North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) and reaccreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Both of these accreditations were the culmination of comprehensive self‐study processes and reviewed by external teams, which led to accreditation reports containing commendations and recommendations for improvement. Following the accreditations, the Board of Trustees commissioned the formation of a strategic planning committee to develop a five‐year plan for the school.
The strategic planning process was built on the findings from the accreditation reports and is based on an inclusive approach consisting of faculty, staff, student, parent, and community collaborations. Within these discussions, key strategic priorities were identified and are considered to be critical to the vitality of our school.
We would like to thank all of the parents, students, and staff members who contributed their ideas and input. We also want to acknowledge the contributions of the following people who gave their time and energy in creating this plan:
