The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art invited to Summit to display over 280 pieces of art, architecture and design works created by preschool through eighth grade students in the museum’s Young@art Gallery, from October 2010 to January 2011.
Summit has been chosen as one of the Best Preschools in Ahwatukee in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 by Ahwatukee Foothills News voters!
Summit's before school running club is led by Kathy Dean, M.A., Summit's physical education teacher and the past president of the Arizona Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AzAHPERD). In 2010-11 90 students ran or walked over 1,500 miles, with ten students running the equivalent of a full marathon. These healthy kids earned Summit the distinction of being one of AAHPERD's top 35 schools in the United States in the Let's Move in School program, which was developed from First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move Program.
Kathy Dean, M.A., Summit's physical education teacher receives recognition for her acievement in helping improve school wellness by serving as a Fuel Up and Play 60 program advisor. This program is sponsored by the National Dairy Council and National Football League, in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture. (2010-11)

Barnes & Noble named Summit School of Ahwatukee 6th grade student Jodi Kreiner as the local winner of the “Barnes & Noble My Favorite Teacher Contest.” Kreiner’s inspirational poem highlighted her Spanish teacher Sr. Richard Cordova. (2011)
Summit’s commitment to community service pays off for non-profit organization Homeward Bound in their annual diaper drive. Summit collected 20,493 diapers – the largest amount of diapers donated by any one organization. (2010)
Many Summit School of Ahwatukee middle school teachers have received a “Golden Gator Award for Excellence in Teaching” from Xavier College Preparatory High School. Summit teachers recognized include: Melissa France (math), Christy Guidorizzi (math), Andrea Yocum (science), and Amy Lecky (literature and language arts). Xavier High School recognizes junior high teachers who have been inspirational to their freshmen students. (2008-2011)
Sixth grade student A. Christensen and teacher Lori Christianson were recognized June 2, 2011 by Secretary of State Ken Bennett as Arizona’s second-place winner in a writing competition for 4th – 6th grades
Chase Bank’s National Essay Contest names then 5th grade Summit student Kendall Ott as one of six national winners in their essay contest. Chase Bank also recognized Summit’s language arts teacher Lori Christianson. (2009)
